The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations embracing the format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz, stating that the association is actively seeking a suitable window for the tournament. Details such as the number of participating teams are yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues across India have become crucial platforms for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to scout emerging talent. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have successfully provided opportunities for local players to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
