Devotees in large numbers pulled the temple car of the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple on Monday as part of the ongoing “Thai Ther” festival.
The processional deity Sri Namperumal along with “Ubhaya Nachiyars” were taken out in a holy procession from the temple in the early hours to the “Thai Ther” mandapam where rituals were performed.
After completion of the rituals, the decorated temple car with the deities of Sri Namperumal along with “Ubhaya Nachiyars” was pulled by a large number of devotees at around 6.15 a.m. amid chants of Ranga Ranga.
The temple car went around the four “Uthirai Veedhis” and returned back to the Nilai in about three hours with devotees offering worship to the deities. The annual festival which commenced at the temple on February 2 with the hoisting of the holy flag concludes on February 12.
