The Delta Kennel Club (DKC) has been launched in Tiruchi to educate and raise awareness among pet lovers on a host of aspects besides organising dog shows in the city. The club is affiliated to the Kennel Club of India.
Besides Tiruchi city, the club will serve and cover neighbouring districts within 100 km. It is driven by a team of dedicated professionals with Dr. Rajavel, a veterinary expert advocating canine health care and welfare, as its president. A. Clament Raj, a canine breeder in Tiruchi promoting ethical and scientific breeding practices, is the club’s secretary.
The primary goals of the club are to educate pet owners on a host of aspects such as registration for unknown canine; choosing the right breed; responsible breeding practices; veterinary care and nutrition; obedience and training; and canine sports and activities, said Mr. Clament Raj.
The club will promote responsible dog ownership; breed awareness, and ethical breeding practices in Tiruchi among dog lovers. The club, which was launched recently, has invited dog lovers, breeders, trainers and veterinarians to become a part of it to make Tiruchi a model city for responsible pet ownership and high quality canine care.
Dog show
Mr. Clament Raj said the club planned to conduct awareness workshops to educate first time pet owners on proper care and training. It has planned to organise a Kennel Club of India certified dog show in Tiruchi in April to showcase top breeds and their handlers while promoting responsible breeding.
