Archana Puran Singh reveals that there was trouble in marriage with Parmeet Sethi once due to ego clashes: 'I thought I cannot let this fail'

Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi may be among Bollywood’s most admired couples today, but their journey together has not been without its struggles. Like any long-term relationship, theirs, too, was tested by rough phases. In a recent vlog shared by their son Aaryamann Sethi, Archana candidly spoke about one such difficult chapter in their marriage.“Parmeet and I were going through a very difficult phase in our marriage. We made mistakes in understanding each other, and sometimes ego gets in the way. When both people in a marriage become weak, then that marriage struggles," Archana recalled. Yet, she added that despite the challenges, she was determined not to let go of her relationship.“You (Aaryamann) were young at that time, but even then, I knew my children would always have their father, and I knew nobody could be a better father than him. Somebody who has loved you guys more than me is your father, and I thought to myself, I cannot let this marriage fail," she explained.Parmeet, too, has previously opened up about that turbulent period. Sharing his own experience, he said, “I did the Art of Living course—Archana forced me to do it. We were going through a bad time as husband and wife, very tense, and we were fighting a lot. After the course, all the things bottled inside me came out, and for the first time, I cried loudly for my sister who had died earlier. I cried to my heart’s content. I used to diet a lot during that time, but during the meditation, I imagined myself eating rich food."Archana, who had gone through a divorce before meeting Parmeet, was initially hesitant about marriage. Fate had other plans though—she met Parmeet at a party, and the bond they developed quickly grew into something unshakable.The couple lived together for four years to be confident about their relationship. Then one spontaneous night, they decided to marry. Around 11 pm, they set out to find a priest. Although they were asked to return the next day, they persisted, and by 11 am on June 30, 1992, they were husband and wife in a simple ceremony.Interestingly, their marriage remained under wraps for about four years. Industry insiders had advised them to keep it quiet, fearing that public knowledge of Archana’s marriage might negatively impact her acting career.
