503 mobile phones worth ₹1 crore recovered by Anakapalli police

Anakapalli police recovered as many as 503 stolen mobile phones worth ₹1 crore, in the ninth phase of mobile recovery mela. Among the list of victims, some were found to be from Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Chattisgarh, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh, apart from Andhra Pradesh.

With this recovery, the district police recovered around 2,711 mobile phones, all worth around ₹4.07 crore since 2022.

Addressing a press conference at Anakapalli on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that apart from the CEIR website, the district police has also been receiving a number of complaints through mobile recovery chatbot. People can just send ‘Hi’ to 9346912007, to inform about their lost phone. The IT core team and Central Crime Station (CCS) authorities have been working effectively to trace the mobile phones.

The SP also recalled that during 2022, 314 mobiles were recovered, while in 2023, 1,309 mobiles phones were recovered. As many as 585 mobile phones were recovered in 2024, he said. The SP gave back the mobile phones to the owners during the programme.
