The Pallavaram police have recovered the charred body of a woman at her apartment in Zamin Pallavaram. According to the police, the victim, Dhanalakshmi, 44, was an assistant professor at the Government Dental College. She was estranged from her husband and lived alone. In the early hours of Friday, neighbours noticed thick smoke coming from the apartment, following which the air conditioner unit burst into flames. The police sent the body to the Government Chrompet Hospital for post-mortem.
Police are investigating the cause of her death.
