Woman, children drown in water sump in Namakkal

A woman and her two children allegedly drowned in a water sump at their residence here on Monday morning.

The deceased are R. Indhumathi (29), and her children Yathvik Arwin (3) and 11-months-old Nivin Adhika, residents of Pothupatti on Paramathi Road.

According to the police, Yathvik Arwin, who was playing in front of the house, fell into the ground-level tank. Indhumathi, who was holding the infant, tried to save him. During the recuse effort, Indumathi and the infant fell into the tank. All three reportedly drowned. Her relatives retrieved the bodies from the tank. The Namakkal police sent the bodies to Namakkal Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem. The police registered a case and are investigating further.
