Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) in Nellore organised an industry-institute meeting with the participation of representatives from several local industries on Saturday.
On the occasion, VSU Vice-Chancellor S. Vijaya Bhaskara Rao presided over the meeting and informed that the collaboration between industry and academic institutions presents opportunities for innovation and skill development. The key opportunities include access to specialised expertise, problem-solving for research, and a better prepared workforce through curriculum development aligned with industry demands.
He also invited company representatives to join as members of business operating system (BOS) and professors of practice, and help in bridging the skill gap between the industry and academia as academia often prioritises fundamental research with long-term goals, while industry focuses on immediate, market-driven solutions with shorter timelines.
The V-C also requested industry to leverage academic expertise to develop new technologies and solutions, while academia can benefit from real-world application of research findings. The collaborations can tackle complex problems with broader societal impact by combining academic knowledge with industry resources.
The event was attended by the representatives of BMR Industries, Dodla Dairy, Adani Wilmar, Emami Group of Industries, Pennver Products Limited, Hitech Pharma, Alpha Biologicals, SEIL Energy and Gemini Oils Private Limited.
