Yoga Trust, Karaikudi, held a two-day seminar on cultivation and commercialisation of medicinal plants at Devakottai in Sivaganga district.
The event was held at Ananda College with the support of the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Union Ministry of AYUSH, said a press release on Monday.
Presiding over the inaugural session, NMPB Deputy Advisor R. Murugeswaran gave an outline of cultivation practices in the country and medicinal plant species and their diversity.
Programme director and founder of Yoga Trust V. K. Yoganathan welcomed the gathering.
On the second day, Herbal Plants and Drug Technology a book authored by Raman Lakshmisundaram, Associate Professor at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai, was released. It provides detailed insights into medicinal plants and their value-added products, making it a valuable resource for students and researchers in the field of medicinal plants.
R. Thirumalaisamy, former vice-chancellor, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, in his valedictory address, shared extensive knowledge about medicinal plants and inspired the audience, particularly scholars, to engage in research on medicinal plants and related areas.
He also encouraged farmers to cultivate high-demand, high-value medicinal plants.
Organising secretary P. Jayanthi Nirmala, K. Bakkiyalakshmi, and Neena J Rayan participated.
