Tiruppur textile unit employee gets 20 years jail term for marrying minor girl 

An employee of a private textile unit in Tiruppur was on Thursday sentenced by the Mahila Court in Tiruppur to 20 years imprisonment in a POCSO case registered during 2022.

Mohan Vignesh (30) of Boyampalayam was arrested for marrying a 15-year-old girl, a co-employee, following a complaint lodged by her parents with the Perumanallur Police.

A case was registered under sections of POCSO and The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, and the girl was rescued.

The Mahila Court Judge, Suresh, also imposed a fine of ₹5,000 separately for sexually assaulting a minor, abducting a minor with the intention of marrying, and the crime of child marriage.
