HANDOUT

On the Kanniyakumari – Nagercoil railway line there is LC NO-10 at Karumpathoor. Guard rail runs on both sides of the road near it to prevent vehicles from falling into pits on the roadside. There is a canal on the west side ofitwhich is about 6 ft. deep. Passing vehicles may fall into the canal accidentally. Hence the guard rails may be extended by 15 ft to the north of the LC.

Expedite work

Residents of Subam Colony in Keezhanatham panchayat of Tirunelveli district, particularly senior citizens, are struggling to reach home as they are forced to walk on the narrow tie beams, constructed on both sides of the street for laying paver block road. Fortunately, nobody has fallen and got hurt so far. I request the authorities to expedite the work.

Bus stand or thoroughfare?

Nesamony bus stand at Meenakshipuram, Nagercoil has become a thoroughfare. It is used as a bypass by two-wheeler riders to reach Avvai Shanmugam Salai from Cape Road. The signboard at the bus-stand declaring this practice as unlawful and punishable doesn’t serve any purpose .Speedy and rash two-wheelers pass through the bus – stand every now and then and scares the wits of waiting passengers and the crew. Many spots in the bus stand are also used as parking lot for the two-wheelers. I request the traffic police to take steps to put an end to this practice.

Fix automatic doors in all town buses

Automatic doors must be fitted in town buses in Kanniyakumari district to prevent footboard travel and stop passengers from climbing on and off moving buses. Such automated doors should also be made mandatory for minibuses run by private operators as they often transport passengers beyond the required limit.
