Udupi police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a 48-year-old Kittur alias Siddappa Shivanappa Hubballi, in Moodanidamburu village of Udupi in October 2023.
The police on Sunday gave names of the arrested persons as Kanakappa Hanumanth Rodi, 46, Yamanur Thimmappa Marana Basari, 24, and Yamanoorappa Jedi alias Rodi, 26, all from Kustagi taluk of Koppal district.
In a statement, the police said deceased Kittur had assaulted Basari’ s friend one Chinnu Patil over theft of a shirt. When Basari questioned Kittur over the assault, the latter assaulted the former. Seeking revenge over the assault, Basari and the two other arrested persons assaulted Kittur with a sharp weapon resulting in latter’s death in the early hours of October 17, 2023.
A team of Udupi police traced and arrested three persons allegedly involved in the murder. They were produced before the jurisdictional court, which remanded the accused to 15 days of judicial custody, the police said.
