Third phase of Infopark will turn Kochi into IT goldmine, says CEO

With the completion of the third phase of Infopark, Kochi will become a goldmine for the IT industry, Infopark Chief Executive Officer Susanth Kurunthil said.

“Educated youngsters no longer leave for greener pastures in search of good companies. Instead, companies are now coming to Kochi in search of talent,” he said at a discussion organised by the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India here on Friday (February 7).

He said that with global IT companies increasingly considering Kochi for their headquarters, the city’s administration, industry, and IT ecosystem should collaborate to build the right social environment.

Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) Chairman K. Chandran Pillai, who took part in the discussion, said the Metropolitan Council’s formation would give GCDA greater responsibilities in infrastructure development.

Meanwhile, the Kerala State Small Industries Association welcomed the IT-centred development in the 2025–26 State Budget, stating that the proposals would significantly expand IT industry space in the State.

“More IT space will be developed across the State, including in Kannur, where 25 acres will house five lakh sq. ft. of built-up space. The Budget has allocated ₹283.22 crore for the project,” said A. Nisaruddin, president of the Industries Association. Another IT park is planned in Kollam through a collaboration between Kinfra and KIIFB, with similar projects expected in Kottarakkara.
