A 37-year-old government school teacher was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Saturday.
A Class X student of a government school at Yercaud informed the school headmaster that S. Ilaiyakannu, a resident of Neyyamalai near Pethanaickenpalayam, allegedly misbehaved with her and four other students. Police and Child Protection Welfare Committee officials were informed, who held inquiries with the students at the school.
Based on the inquiry, Kondalampatti All Women’s Police Station registered a case under the POCSO Act against the accused and arrested him. After investigations, the teacher will be remanded in prison, police sources say.
