Students of Coimbatore Corporation schools to receive AI-based chess training

Students of Coimbatore Corporation schools will receive Artificial intelligence (AI) based chess training through a newly launched programme inaugurated by Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran at the Corporation Auditorium in R.S. Puram on Saturday.

The initiative aims to enhance students’ cognitive and analytical skills through structured chess training.

The training is being implemented by Coimbatore Corporation in collaboration with Chess Bishop, a private organisation, which will deploy the AI-based chess learning platform Sigaram 64 for Corporation school students. Under the Coimbatore Smart City Corporation project, 150 selected students will receive chess training through this advanced AI-driven platform.

The programme will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, spanning two months, students will receive weekly live online training via Zoom in batches. In the second phase, they will transition to Sigaram 64, an AI-powered personalised chess learning platform. This adaptive system will provide interactive Tamil-language modules to ensure better comprehension. The AI will engage students through questions, responses, and discussions, creating an immersive learning experience.

The initiative fosters holistic development by introducing students to district-level tournaments as well as global competitions.

Following the inauguration, the Corporation Commissioner felicitated students who participated in State-level chess tournaments.
