Thirteen students of the Zilla Parishad High School at Venkatapuram of Gopalapatnam complained of vomiting and sickness reportedly due to some foul smell in their classroom on Monday.
The students were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital and their condition is said to be stable.
Some three boys reportedly suffered from similar symptoms on Saturday.
School headmaster Apparao said that following a complaint from some students they had cleaned the classroom on Saturday. However, as more students complained of sickness on Monday, he had rushed them to the hospital.
District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) P. Jagadeeswara Rao said some students might have brought rotten eggs to the classroom on Saturday leading to the problem. Stating that insufficient cleaning might have caused the recurrence of the complaint, he said sanitisers should have been used to clean the classroom.
The toilets and kitchen were fine, and there were no industries in the surroundings, he said, ruling out food poisoning or pollution behind the incident.
