Special camps will be held in 90 places under the third phase of the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme, Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development C.V. Ganesan said on Tuesday.
Mr. Ganesan inaugurated the third phase of the scheme at Ramanaickenpalayam near Attur on Tuesday and later participated in camps held at Pungavadi, Ammapalayam, Valayamdevi and Kallanatham. The Minister received petitions from the public and provided welfare assistance worth ₹68.42 lakh on behalf of the Agriculture, Labour Welfare, Differently-abled Welfare, Revenue and Rural Development Departments to 436 beneficiaries.
Speaking to reporters, the Minister said that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was taking steps to make sure welfare schemes were accessible to all people. “Following the Kala Aivil Mudhalvar (Chief Minister on field inspection), the Chief Minister rolled out the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme to enable easier access to government services. Issues of the people were sorted out through the scheme and preference was given to their grievances. The new scheme has brought government services to their doorstep,” the Minister added.
Stating that the first and second phases of the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme camps were held in urban and rural areas of Salem respectively, Mr. Ganesan said that petitions submitted during these camps were addressed, and responses were given to the petitioners. “The third phase of the scheme will take place in 90 locations where marginalised communities reside in high numbers. On Tuesday, camps were held in five locations. These camps will continue in Attur, Pethanaickenpalayam, and Thalaivasal panchayat unions until February 7. During these camps, 44 services from 15 government departments will be available to the public. Petitions received at these camps will be addressed within 30 days,” the Minister said.
District Collector R. Brindha Devi and officials from concerned departments participated in the function.
