The Sembulichanpatti-Erumaipatti-Erikadu Road on Pachamalai in Tiruchi district is being re-laid under the Prime Minister’s Rural Road Scheme (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana).
The work, taken up at an estimate of about ₹5.20 crore, will benefit residents of Sembulichanpatti, Maruthai, Erumaipatti, Erikadu, and their surrounding villages. The work includes construction of two bridges and revetments on some stretches.
The road had been damaged badly during the monsoon about a couple of years ago, posing hardship to residents of the villages. The residents had been pressing for early repair of the road.
The work, which commenced in September last year, is scheduled to be completed by June, sources said.
