Seeman refers to Dravidian Movement as a branch of British colonialism

Naam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman on Thursday said that the Dravidian movement was merely the southern branch of British colonialism, just as the RSS is the northern branch.

Speaking at an election campaign in B.P. Agraharam, part of the Erode (East) Assembly constituency, Mr. Seeman said that the RSS never fought for independence and that Periyar was never imprisoned. “I am not criticizing Periyar intentionally. I criticize because I don’t want Periyar,” he said.

Mr. Seeman stated that Periyar himself had said that India did not need independence and that British rule should continue. “Even former Chief Minister M.K. Karunanidhi was the first to support the idea of ‘One Nation, One Election,’ but now they claim it is a murder of democracy,” he added. “If this country is to be truly prosperous, Periyar said there should be one nation, one language, one party, and one religion,” he claimed.
