Collector P. Rathinasamy on Wednesday held a tripartite meeting here to determine the rent for private paddy harvesting machines.
Representatives of farmers, private harvesting machine owners and officials of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and the Department of Agriculture took part in it. They expressed their opinions and views on fixing rent for the machines.
The Collector, who listened to the views of all stakeholders, said the rent for belt-type harvesting machines had been fixed at ₹2,500 per hour and for tyre type machines the rent per hour would be ₹1,850..
Harvester machine owners should cooperate by collecting rent from farmers not exceeding the fixed amount. In case of any problems, the farmers could approach the officials of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and the Department of Agriculture.
Mr. Rathinasamy said the Agricultural Engineering Department had two belt-type harvesters and one tyre type machine. The rent for belt-type machine would be ₹1,880 per hour, and the rent for tyer-type harvester would be ₹1,160 per hour.
