Police summon Seeman over ‘derogatory’ remarks against Periyar

Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman has been summoned to appear before Vadalur police in Cuddalore district on Friday in connection with an inquiry in a case against him for his alleged derogatory speech on Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) founder Periyar E.V. Ramasamy.

The Vadalur police had registered a case against him on a complaint dated January 9 by the DK district president Dhandapani.

The complainant alleged that Mr. Seeman had made derogatory and objectionable remarks against Periyar while participating in a meeting in Vadalur.

The police booked a case against Mr. Seeman under the Sections 192 and 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Following this, police personnel from Vadalur visited Mr. Seeman’s house at Neelangarai in Chennai, and served a summons asking him to appear before police on Friday.
