Police open fire at rowdy sheeter in Bengaluru

The Sarjapur police on Tuesday opened fire at a rowdy sheeter and arrested him, even as he attacked a police constable with a knife in a bid to escape arrest.

The accused, Srinivasa alias Gubbacchi Seena, involved in several criminal cases, was on the run after hacking to death his rival and a former rowdy Venkatesha in Doddabommasandra on January 28. The police were on his lookout and on credible information, a team went to a bakery where Seena was hiding and asked him to surrender.

In a bid to escape, Seena allegedly attacked constable Irfan with a knife and began to run. The Inspector fired in the air asking him to surrender, and when he did not heed the warning shot at his leg to stop him from fleeing, the police claimed. Both Seena and Irfan were later shifted to hospital and both are said to be out of danger.
