The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress have asked their workers to be vigilant against electoral malpractice during polling.
Sources in AAP said the party’s polling agents and volunteers have been trained to verify voting procedures and remain vigilant against attempts to tamper with the EVMs.
“They have been asked to verify polling booth details to ensure the correct set-up and check the presiding officer’s credentials to ensure that authorised officials monitor the control units of the voting machines and prevent unauthorised machine replacements,” said a source in the ruling party.
AAP workers have also been asked to note the battery levels of the EVMs and track the total number of votes polled to ensure that the final count matches the actual ballots cast.
Cadre mobilisation
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said party leaders and workers will be mobilised early in the morning to ensure that booth presidents and polling agents reach their designated stations by 6.15 a.m. and voter slip distribution tables are set up at all the polling booths.
He added that over 1.5 lakh BJP workers will be on the ground to encourage voters to cast their ballot.
A Delhi Congress leader said their cadre will monitor the electoral process closely throughout the day and flag any malpractice or rule violation immediately to their seniors.
