Parties that have money keep winning elections, says Toddy movement field coordinator

Political parties that have money keep winning elections, said S. Nallsamy, field coordinator, Tamil Nadu Toddy Movement, on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters in Salem, Mr. Nallasamy said that the Assembly elections in Delhi also saw national parties announcing freebies. “Parties that have money are winning elections and parties unable to do so become opposition parties. Parties have been brainwashing people over the last 78 years with freebies and money – this is dangerous for democracy. The Election Commission should condemn it and a separate law should be brought in Parliament against freebies,” Mr. Nallasamy added.

On the byelection in Erode East Assembly constituency, Mr. Nallasamy said the byelection was conducted in Erode, which is situated on the banks of the River Cauvery. But in this election, the Cauvery issue was not discussed. Like the price fixed for fuel on a daily basis, Tamil Nadu should get Cauvery water on a daily basis from Karnataka, Mr. Nallasamy added.
