Karnataka Bank chairman P. Pradeep Kumar on Saturday, February 8, said empathy, vision, and leadership are essential for modern managers. Managers must be capable of making ethical and sustainable decisions while challenging the status quo, he said.

Mr. Kumar was delivering the keynote address at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) at Bondel. The veteran banker called for greater integration of AI and industry collaboration in academic curriculum, noting that digital transformation and globalisation trends are reshaping industries.

He pointed out that the ongoing US-China trade war could create new opportunities for India, while tier-2 cities are poised for growth due to land constraints in metro areas.

Speaking on the occasion, St. Aloysius Deemed to be University, Vice-Chancellor, Praveen Martis emphasised that vision and a strong foundation are crucial for an institution’s growth. Mangalore University Registrar K. Raju Mogaveera urged students to be globally competitive for India to advance on the world stage. Institute mentor Vittaldas Leeladhar reminisced about his long association with MSNIM, while Women’s National Education Society (WNES) vice-president Jeevandas Narayan attributed the Institute’s success to the trust and commitment of its stakeholders.

The Institute felicitated several key individuals for their contributions, including Mr. Leeladhar, WNES former president Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, first director G.V. Shenoy, and former directors M.P. Hrishikesh and Narayan Kayarkatte.

WNES president Manel Annappa Nayak reflected on the Institute’s journey and expressed hope that the Besant Group of Institutions would one day achieve “Deemed to be University“ status.

Established in 1999

MSNIM was established in 1999 as the first private management institute affiliated with Mangalore University, operating from its own 3.5-acre campus in Bondel. Sponsored by WNES, the institute is part of the Besant Group of Institutions, founded in 1918 by Dr. Annie Besant, a renowned theosophist, freedom fighter, and social reformer.

Over 25 years, MSNIM has graduated 1,446 MBA students, many of whom have excelled globally. It is accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC.
