Immigration officials at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Friday caught a 37-year-old private firm employee who travelled to the United Kingdom with fake documents and forged identity eight years ago.
The accused G. Jayaveeran from Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu was intercepted soon after he landed at the KIA from London with an emergency certificate.
Upon questioning he said that he had lost his passport in London and managed to come back using an emergency certificate. However, this raised suspicion and officials checked his departure details and found that he had boarded a flight to London from Chennai in October 2017 in the name of Mathumati Ramaswamy. Further questioning revealed that his original name was Gobi Jayaveeran. He managed to leave for London and stayed there under a forged identity.
Based on the complaint filed by immigration official Anilkumar B Mangavati, International Airport Police have registered a case against Jayaveeran.
