A sub-court in Padmanabhapuram has awarded seven-year jail term to a person in an attempt to murder case registered at the Thuckalay police station in the year 2014 and has passed a disciplinary action against officials involved in the investigation procedure.
Judge K. Mariappan convicted Sukumaran and sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment for attacking Chellappan and his wife Thangal from Kollanvilai on January 2, 2014 over a land dispute. The court also imposed a fine of ₹5,000 on Sukumaran.
Additionally, the court ordered disciplinary actions against the police officials for conducting an improper investigation and failing to submit important evidence in the court.
