A 43-year-old lecturer, Chethana, was strangled to death by her husband over a domestic row and the accused allegedly tried to make it look like suicide to conceal the crime at their house in Malleshawaram 16th cross on Monday.
He later carried her body to the hospital complaining she was unwell and attempted suicide where the doctor declared her “brought dead”. The doctor who examined her body found scratch marks around her neck and alerted the police.
The police rushed to the spot and detained the accused identified as Sharath Uttangi. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to the crime. The police also confirmed that she was killed due to strangulation through the autopsy report and arrested Sharath.
Chethana was lecturer at a private college while Sharath works with a private firm. According to the police, the deceased Chethana and Sharath were married for 15 years and the couple had a 13-year-old daughter.
Probe revealed that the couple had a financial problems and used to fight frequently over the issue. On Monday the couple had a fight following which Sharath strangled her to death and tried to portray it as a case of suicide.
