A 66-year-old man died and a Tasmac supervisor sustained grievous injuries in an accident on Sunday. 108 ambulance workers handed over ₹5.62 lakh cash carried by the victim to his family.
On Sunday night, Magudesan, 54, a supervisor at a Tasmac outlet at Kondalampatti and residing in Vembadithalam, was headed home after closing shop with Kulandaivel, a friend, on their two-wheeler. They had reached the Kondalampatti flyover when a car coming in the opposite direction collided with them. They were taken to the Salem Government Hospital, where Kulandaivel succumbed to injuries. Ambulance drivers Nadesan and Adiseshan, who found the collection amount at the accident spot, handed over the amount to the victims’ families in the presence of police and doctors. Kondalampatti police have registered a case and are investigating further.
