A 32-year-old man was arrested here on Monday on the charge of making a threat call over phone that a bomb would explode at the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple. The accused, S. Senthilkumar of Thimmampettai in Vellore district, was sent to judicial custody subsequently.
The police said Senthilkumar called the police control room in Tiruchi on Sunday night threatening that a bomb would explode in the temple. Checks were immediately conducted and the call turned out to be a hoax. Based on the mobile number from which Senthilkumar made the call, the police tracked his location and arrested him.
The Srirangam police have registered a case.
