Man accused of bestiality at Karamadai near Coimbatore

The Karamadai police in Coimbatore district on Thursday received a complaint from a woman, accusing a man of having subjected a street dog to bestiality.

The police said that a resident of Mangalakaraipudur, near Karamadai, lodged a complaint against a man in his 50s, who was doing construction works, alleging cruelty to the animal.

As per the complaint, the woman noticed the man roaming in the locality around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. The woman was feeding a street dog in the neighbourhood. She found the man taking the dog to a house under construction.

After being alerted by the woman, her husband came to the spot. They checked inside the building and allegedly found the man subjecting the dog to bestiality. The man was caught by the residents and handed over to the Karamadai police.

A police officer said that an investigation was launched on the complaint. V. Balakrishnan, cruelty inspector with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said the dog was taken to a government veterinarian at Thekkampatti for a medical examination on Thursday.
