Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan on Saturday visited the recently-developed eco park near Mettupalayam truck terminal and planted a tree under Central government’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ a campaign for planting trees. The Lt Governor planted a tree in the name of his mother K. Leela Govind in the eco park.

The eco park is a joint initiative of the Oulgaret Municipality and Rotary Club of Pondicherry Beach Town. A dump yard covering an area of 33,000 square feet has been converted into a green grove using Miyawaki method. While appreciating the club members for their initiative, the Lt. Governor said the Rotary Club could take up similar environment-friendly projects in association with the government. The Lt. Governor also stressed on the upkeep of the eco park.
