A flight bound for Kuala Lumpur made an emergency landing at the city airport on Friday afternoon after a 41-year-old woman passenger collapsed and died.
The flight had departed from Muscat around 9 a.m. During the course of the journey, the woman reportedly felt uneasy and fell unconscious. “There was no doctor on board and it was decided to land the flight at Chennai airport to attend to the passenger. Subsequently, the ATC [Air traffic control] was informed and the flight reached the airport at 2 p.m. However, the doctor at the airport who examined her declared her dead,” a source said.
The flight took off from Chennai airport around 4.30 p.m. The body of the passenger was shifted to the Government Hospital in Chromepet for a post-mortem, he added.
