Royapettah Police has arrested a 41-year-old man from Kannur, Kerala, for allegedly possessing fake currencies amounting to ₹9.48 crore.
The Police said the Income Tax Department(IT) officers conducted a search at a house on Pooram Prakasam Rao road, Royapettah on Tuesday. During the search, the police seized fake currencies in ₹2000 denomination from the man who has been identified as Rasheed Azhikkodan Thegath, 41 from Kannur, Kerala. He was arrested by police following a complaint from an IT officer Shravan Kumar Reddy on charges of possessing counterfeit currencies. He was remanded to judicial custody.
