The Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) has kept in abeyance all proceedings initiated by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for the selection of Assistant Professor in electronics in government arts and science colleges.
The tribunal passed the order recently on a petition filed by Raj Sha M.M from Kochi challenging the selection procedure. He contended that the PSC had considered only MTech and ME degree holders for the post. MSc degree holders were ignored, he said.
The tribunal also directed the State government to constitute a committee of experts to decide whether MTech and ME degree holders in electronic engineering had the qualifications as prescribed by the special rules as well as the UGC regulations for the post of Assistant Professors in electronics and whether those were qualifications equivalent to MSc in electronics. The tribunal ordered that the decision should be taken in three months. Until the decision is taken, the selection process will be kept in abeyance.
