It’s a safe, conservative budget benefitting middle class, says corporate trainer

“I see this as a safe, conservative budget. There were expectations that the budget would provide some relief to the middle class to address their concern on inflation. The Union government has more than met their expectations by raising the tax exemption limit to ₹12 lakh. I may be at the upper end of the tax bracket. I will also benefit to some extent if I adopt the ‘new’ tax regime. So, more disposable income in the hands of the middle class will boost consumption and investment, both of which will be beneficial for the economy.

“Tax deduction at source has also been rationalised by reducing the number of rates and thresholds above which TDS is deducted. It will help make the compliance process simpler. It is also encouraging to see the benefits proposed for the MSME sector through increased investment and turnover limits and increased credit guarantee cover.

The duty exemption for essential life saving drugs is another positive aspect that will help many people who may now be able to afford such drugs. The budget has outlined significant measures for education sector, marking a strong commitment to the sector.”
