Industrialist V. Chandrashekar Janardhan Rao’s grandson was arrested for stabbing him over 70 times with a kitchen knife over an alleged property dispute and inheritance at their residence in Panjagutta.
The accused, identified as Keerthi Teja, reportedly attacked and fatally stabbed Mr. Chandrashekar, 86, at their residence. Following the attack, Mr. Teja fled the scene on Thursday night.
Police explained that Mr. Teja was Mr. Chandrashekar’s second daughter’s younger son. “He claimed that he was neglected by his family, while his cousins and siblings were allegedly ‘taken care of’. He also claimed that he was not given respect in the company and demanded his share of money and inheritance from the family,” said the police based on preliminary questioning. Mr. Teja had returned from the United States in 2018 after completing his Master’s degree.
Chandrashekar was the CMD of Veljan group of companies, residing in Panjagutta with his family, including Mr. Teja’s mother, and his daughter, Sarojini Devi. Mr. Teja was arrested on Saturday from Somajiguda based on a tip-off.
