Increasing demand for milk in the State is being met efficiently by Aavin, says Minister Raja Kannappan

As seven lakh litres of additional milk has been added to Aavin milk supply, the increasing demand for milk in the State was being dealt efficiently, said, Minister for Dairy Development Raja Kannappan. 

He was speaking after inaugurating an Aavin booth at the Police Housing quarters in the district on Wednesday. The Minister said price of the milk sold through Aavin was less by ₹12 per litre when compared to the price of milk supplied by private players.  

“As the Aavin products are sold at a rate comparatively less than other suppliers, most of the people from underprivileged background and middle-class families are benefiting,” he added. 

To meet the demands of the people, the shops have been instructed to remain open for additional one hour from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., he noted.  

Answering to question about the steps being taken by the government to tackle water scarcity in the district, Mr. Kannappan said, the drinking water project which was carried out at ₹2,718 crore exclusively in Ramanathapuram to meet the water needs was nearing completion and it would be operational in two months.  

At the police quarters, he also inaugurated a purified drinking water dispenser which was installed by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). 

At a different event, Mr. Kannappan distributed marriage assistances worth ₹1.26 crore to 136 beneficiaries.  

Ramanathapuram district Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon, Superintendent of Police G. Chandeesh, among others were present at the event.
