Two persons have been arrested by the Haryana Police on charges of extortion and criminal conspiracy for allegedly implicating Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party president Mohan Lal Badoli and former Haryana government Publicity Chairman Rocky Mittal in a rape case registered at Himachal Pradesh over a month ago.
The arrests were made after Mr. Mittal lodged a counter FIR against six persons, including the complainant in the rape case, at Panchkula for implicating them and trying to extort money from them.
SI Sukhvinder at Panchkula’s Sector 5 police station confirmed the arrests, but refused to divulge further details.
The case has been registered against six persons on charges of extortion, criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation. However, only three of them, including two women, have been identified.
Mr. Mittal, in his complaint, alleged that the two women had called him on his mobile phone twice in September last year in a bid to extort money from him and Mr. Badoli and threatened to implicate them in a case if their demand was not met.
Mr. Mittal, in the FIR, claimed that he made an online complaint to the Director General of Police office in this connection and also made a call to the Control Room and informed the Panchkula Sector 5 police station about the repeated threats and extortion bids. He alleged that the accused were part of a racket of organised crime and extorted money from people by preparing fake CDs using Artificial Intelligence tools. He added that the accused laid a trap to ensnare them in Goa and Delhi as well, but they escaped because of their clean image.
Mr. Mittal alleged that one of the woman called him after the registration of the case at Himachal saying that she along with a man, named in the FIR, were the mastermind behind it and demanded Rs.50 lakh to settle the matter.
