Government school faces inquiry for avoiding national anthem in Salem

A government school at Edappadi in Salem is facing an inquiry for allegedly not playing the national anthem during morning prayers.

More than 1,000 students study at the Edappadi Government Boys Higher Secondary School where, during the morning prayers, the national anthem was allegedly not played. As information spread, the school authorities clarified that there were 400 Class XII students writing revision exams at the time, and playing the national anthem would have forced them to stand up, diverting their attention.

Education department officials are inquiring teachers at the school regarding the incident.
