Four killed in 2 separate accidents

Four persons were killed and six injured in two different accidents in Wanaparthy and Siddipet on Friday morning.

In the first case, two members of a family died on the spot and five others suffered injuries when their car was hit by a container truck from behind at Veltoor.

The incident occurred between 9:20 and 9:25 a.m. when the driver of a truck (MH 46 BF 8950) moving from Hyderabad to Kurnool suddenly applied brakes, leading to a chain reaction crash. The car was behind the truck, and the driver could not stop on time. It got severely damaged when another truck rammed it from behind.

Khatkambi and Safian, 10, succumbed to their injuries, while Chinna Babu, 52, his wife Hazarambi, 45, their son-in-law Moulali, 38, daughter Siddhabbi, 35, and grand-daughter Jahnavi, 6, were critically injured and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

The accident led to temporary traffic congestion at the intersection, which was later cleared by police.

In another case, two persons were killed and two injured, when their car crashed into a parked truck in Siddipet. “Merugu Lingaiah and his brother Merugu Mahesh were travelling to Manikonda from Ramagundem with a relative, Muske Binesh, and driver Pranay Sagar, when the accident occurred,” said police.

Binesh and Lingaiah, both seated on the left side of the car, succumbed to injuries, while Mahesh and Pranay sustained injuries. They started their journey at around 1.30 a.m. and the accident was reported at around 4.40 a.m. on Friday. “The truck driver said that he parked his vehicle and fell asleep,” police added.
