FIR against caterer after insect found in food

The Yelahanka police on Monday (February 10) registered a First Information Report against a private caterer for supplying substandard food to the police personnel who were deployed for the aero show security.

Earlier, they had complained that a cockroach had been found in one of the food packets. Senior police officials visited the aero show and had breakfast with security personnel to check the quality. However, later on Monday afternoon, the personnel complained that they found an insect in the food packets supplied to them.

Based on the complaint the police registered a case against the caterer charging them under BNS Section 275 (sale of noxious food or drink).

The work order of the caterer has been cancelled. The authorities are contemplating approaching ISKCON for food supply, a senior police officer said.
