Representatives of Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) on Thursday alleged that some individuals were trying to destabilise the organisation by targeting B. Unnikrishnan, its general secretary.
The federation rallied behind Mr. Unnikrishnan against the backdrop of the allegations raised against him by film producer Sandra Thomas, who had lodged a police complaint accusing the general secretary of trying to isolate her in the industry. Sibi Malayil, president of the federation, said Mr. Unnikrishnan had taken the lead in resolving various issues raised by her earlier.
“Sandra is not a member of the organisation. She should have raised her complaints before the Kerala Film Producers’ Association. Instead, she is blaming Mr. Unnikrishnan, which is an indication of the conspiracy to target him,” Mr. Malayil said.
FEFKA representatives accused Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) of trying to create fissures in the organisation by supporting those who spoke against the general secretary and the federation. They alleged that a make-up artist was denied work in a movie directed by one of the key members of the collective. Mr. Malayil said the issues raised by three women hair stylists, who had staged a two-day hunger strike in Kochi, had been resolved.
