Farmers in Ramanathapuram district are informed by the Agricultural Department to register details about their agricultural lands on the Farmers Registry through the camps arranged in all revenue villages.
The registry, opened by the Union government’s Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, would serve as a database for agricultural lands in the country, said a press statement.
Officials of the Agriculture, Horticulture and the Agri Marketing Departments, who would be present at the camps, would verify the land documents and other details submitted by the farmers. Once the details were accepted by the registry, a unique identification number would be provided to every farmer.
With the ID number, the farmers could avail themselves of schemes provided by both the State and the Union governments. To benefit under programmes provided by the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Agri marketing, Animal Husbandry, Cooperative and Revenue, the farmers with the unique ID number had to register their details and documents every time.
The ID numbers would make procuring crop loans from cooperative and nationalised banks and registering for insurance under Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme easy, the statement noted.
“The farmers to benefit from the unique identification number should visit the camps with their online patta details and Aadhaar cards,” it said.
For additional information, they could contact the Agriculture Department office, it added.
