Vehicles are being equipped with Global Positioning Systems that escort electronic voting machines for the byelection to Erode (East) Assembly constituency in Erode in Tamil Nadu.

As many as 24 vehicles accompanying lorries and vans transporting electronic voting machines (EVMs), voter verifiable paper audit trails (VVPATs), and other election materials for the by-election in the Erode (East) Assembly constituency have been equipped with Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
Polling is scheduled for February 5 and will take place at 237 polling stations in the constituency. Lorries and vans will transport the machines, while four-wheelers will escort them to the polling stations.
Election officials stated that lorries and vans will be assembled on February 3, and transportation to the polling stations will commence on the afternoon of February 4. The movement of GPS-fitted vehicles will be monitored from the control room established at the Corporation Central Office.
