A junior engineer of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco) in Sivaganga district was arrested by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption officials on Tuesday for demanding and receiving ₹1,500 as bribe from a consumer.
According to sources, complainant Ramesh, 35, of Ilayangudi approached the engineer, Sivakumar of Ilayangudi rural office, for changing the consumer name. But, as the official demanded ₹1,500 as bribe for the changing the name, Mr. Ramesh complained about the demand to DVAC officials.
DVAC officials led by DSP John Britto, who set up a trap, caught Sivakumar while he was receiving the bribe. Following this, he was arrested by DVAC officials.
