With the State government’s decision to offer a compensation of ₹20 lakh per acre for land assignees, along with other benefits, farmers losing their lands for the proposed industrial corridor in Dudyala mandal of Vikarabad district are happy. Official sources say that this decision, which is part of the State government’s comprehensive development project in the region in the erstwhile combined Mahabunagar district, aims to establish industries and revolutionise the lives of farmer families. The government is acquiring lands in Polepally, Hakimpet, Lagacharla, Roti Banda Thanda and Pulicharla Thanda villages of Dudyal Mandal of Vikarabad district for the industrial park in place of earlier proposal to set up a pharma village project.
For years, these families struggled to make ends meet, their lives crippled by the lack of irrigation water and poor crop yields. However, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s special initiative, their fortunes are set to change.
The compensation package includes ₹20 lakh per acre for land assignees, mainly from tribal and Dalit communities, as well as Indiramma house, worth ₹5 lakh, for each family. But that’s not all — each family will also receive 150 yards of developed land per acre, worth over ₹15 lakh, providing them with a valuable asset for future generations.
Further, the government has promised job opportunities for each family member, based on eligibility, in the industries being set up, ensuring that the benefits of the project are shared equitably.
The land assignees, who were once struggling to survive, are now filled with hope and gratitude. Gudise Kishtappa, a farmer from Hakimpeta village, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, saying, “Revanth Reddy has come down like a god and supported people like us. We were struggling to make ends meet, but now our lives are changing for the better.”
The current process of land acquisition has been marked by transparency and democratic negotiations, a far cry from the harassment and police detention that often accompanied such processes in the past.
Vikarabad District Collector Prateek Jain has played a pivotal role in this regard, personally interacting with each farmer, listening to their grievances and collecting their opinions. The establishment of an Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) has also created new job opportunities for the youth in the region. The ATC will provide training in skills required for industries, ensuring 100% job placement for those who complete the training. This initiative has sent a wave of excitement among the youth, who see a brighter future unfolding before them.
Mala Balappa, another farmer from Hakimpeta, said, “Revanth Reddy is changing our lives. It seems that all our problems seem to have been solved at once.”
Sunnala Ramulu, a farmer from Polepalli village, who holds 5.2 acres of land, hoped that his younger son, who has completed ITI, would get a job with the government’s decision. “We are grateful to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his generosity. This compensation package has brought us a new lease on life.”
