Ban country bombs
Country bombs and crackers are being used during functions such as weddings, receptions, puberty ceremonies, and ear-piercing events, as well as in political gatherings. This practice, especially in urban areas, cause serious environmental and public health concerns. Explosion of country bombs not only creates excessive noise pollution but also spreads waste and harmful pollutants, affecting the cleanliness of public spaces. These bombs, being cheaper than branded crackers, are widely used as a status symbol, disregarding their negative impacts. The deafening noise severely affects pedestrians, motorists and residents, especially heart patients, the elderly, and those with hearing sensitivity. Prolonged exposure to such loud blasts can lead to permanent hearing impairment and other health complications. I urge the government to take strict measures to ban use of country bombs and high-decibel crackers in public and crowded places.

Bring order near bus stand
Most of the mofussil and town buses prefer to stop on the road near the exit of the Sempatti bus stand to take and drop passengers, causing traffic snarl most of the time. Vendors take advantage of this and sell fruits and edibles to the passengers in the buses making the road more congested. The authorities concerned should find a solution to this problem so that the vehicles passing through this road may have easy passage to their destinations.

More staff needed at scan centre
The scan centre at the Government Medical College Hospital in Ramanathapuram is insufficiently manned. About 1,000 outpatients and 700 inpatients undergo treatment every day for various ailments at this hospital which provides MRI, CT and ultrasound scan facilities are provided. But due to lack of required strength of experts in the scan department, the scan reports are issued belatedly resulting in delay in treatment for the patients. The scan reports are very vital in emergency cases and any delay in issuing them defeats the very purpose for which the scan centre functions. I appeal to the authorities concerned to take effective steps to ensure that the scan centre is adequately staffed.

Cover garbage clearing vehicles
A huge amount of garbage consisting of food leftovers, banana leaves , plastic water bottles, etc., dumped around Bala Dhandayuthapani Temple hillock in Palani is collected and loaded onto open lorries by conservancy workers of the municipality. Since these vehicles are not covered, the overloaded garbage gets blown and strewn on the streets and roads while these uncovered lorries ply around the town, removing garbage from many places. The garbage transported in the open lorries also get blown and hit the faces of motorists who drive behind those vehicles. The stench stemming out from the openly-loaded garbage causes much respiratory discomfiture to devotees on streets around the hillock. I appeal to the Palani Municipality authorities to cover these open lorries with lids so that the garbage is transported in a safe manner.

Open more DPCs
In Ramanathapuram district, only 36 direct purchase centres (DPC) have been opened to buy paddy from farmers. It is not adequate. I request the authorities concerned to open more centres in Paramakudi and Mudhukulathur taluks.
