Digital library with civil service training academy at Mannargudi on the anvil: Minister

A digital library with civil service training academy is planned to be established at Mannargudi, Industries Minister T.R.B.Rajaa said on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering at the quasquicentennial celebrations of the Government Aided National Higher Secondary School at Mannargudi, Mr. Rajaa said that he was happy to note that alumni of this 125-year-old school were employed and settled in various foreign countries. At the same time, he said, Mannargudians should also excel in the Union Public Service Commission examinations and serve the nation as IAS, IPS or IFS officers.

Stating that he had taken some initiatives in the recent past to assist the civil service aspirants get trained for taking up the competitive examinations, the Minister said the aspiration of the people of Mannargudi to have a training centre in their hometown was all set to become a reality. The proposed digital library would house a training academy for the civil service aspirants besides a science park, he added.

Further, the Minister said he was collecting data about the alumni of various schools in and around Mannargudi, including the Government Aided National Higher Secondary School. The purpose of the exercise was to request them to help and support the youngsters of Mannargudi in their career, he said.

Tracing the evolution of education in the Tamil speaking land from the Justice Party era, the Minister listed out various initiatives of the present ‘Dravidian Model Government’ in ensuring education for all.

Commending the services of the Government Aided National Higher Secondary School, he said that the Tamil Nadu government had decided to financially support more than 2,000 schools in the State to celebrate their existence in the field of education for over 100 years.

 Former Headmaster, S.Sethuraman, the quasquicentennial celebrations committee president, Thalaiyamangalam Balu, Mannargudi Municipal Chairman, Mannai.T.Cholarajan, former Municipal Chairman, Siva.Rajamanickam, quasquicentennial celebrations committee deputy president, S.Kamaraj and treasurer, Saravanaselvan, School Committee chairman, T.P.Ramanathan, Correspondent, R.Viswanathan, National Primary School Secretary, T.R.Swaminathan, GANHSS Headmaster, Thilakar and others participated in the function.
