The famous Gnana Saraswati temple at Basar in Nirmal district witnessed a steady stream of devotees from far and wide on the occasion of ‘Vasantha Panchami’ on Monday.
Hordes of parents flocked to the temple right from dawn to perform the ‘aksharabhyasam’ for their children at the abode of Goddess Saraswati on the auspicious occasion.
Devotees stood in queue for long hours to have darshan of the temple deity. Devotees thronged the temple from different parts of the State as well as from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and various other States.
The bathing ghats on the banks of Godavari river in the temple town came alive from the break of dawn with devotees taking a holy dip in the river before heading to the temple to offer prayers.
